type='text'>Speed Up Typing Speed Using Voice Recognition

If you're a slow typist, using a speech recognition program may boost your productivity. People speak at 100 to 175 WPM. If you only type 30 WPM, using a program that recognizes your speech could increase your productivity by 5 times.

To use a program that recognizes your speech, you speak into a microphone that's connected to your computer. Then as you speak, the program will translate your words into text on the computer. It will do your typing for you.

There are different speech recognition programs out there you can use. In one program, you can even speak commands into your computer. To open a file, you can say, "File open." This can be handy if you have trouble finding commands, such as opening a file. (But then again, you can always press Ctrl+O which is faster than saying "file open." But learning the shortcut keys takes some initial effort.)

If you have Windows Vista, it comes with a program that recognizes your speech. To find it, press the Start button and type "speech recognition" in the "Start Search" field. You'll see a program called "Windows Speech Recognition." You can configure it by selecting the program "Speech Recognition Options."

The programs you use to recognize your speech won't have 100% accuracy. So it'll make mistakes here and there. If you don't mind a little editing, the program can be beneficial. It's even more beneficial if you're a slow typer. Give it a try and see if it boosts your productivity. If it doesn't, you can always scrap it. So there's nothing to lose.

[source]

Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy for technospine.blogspot.com

If you require any more information or have any questions about our privacy policy, please feel free to contact us by email at kemas.dimas@googlemail.com.

At technospine.blogspot.com, the privacy of our visitors is of extreme importance to us. It used to be the case that if you were driving anywhere that happened to be a long distance away, and you were a poor map reader, then you would have a very difficult time getting to your destination unless it was extremely well signposted. With the GPS system now being freely available to motorists, such problems are a thing of the past for anyone who has a sat nav system installed in their car. So how did this some to pass?

Well, the GPS – short for Global Positioning System – was developed as recently as the Eighties as a military application by the United States Department of Defence. Back in the early Eighties it was used chiefly as a way of detecting hostile aircraft, but as time has gone on and clever people realised a worthwhile civilian application for the system, it has become a major part of road travel for an increasing number of motorists.

The GPS itself is a system consisting of at 31 orbiting satellites, from which the system on your car dashboard is able to capture signals. As long as your own GPS device can take the data from three satellites, it can pinpoint your position anywhere on the planet.

So far, so simple. Most of us know, at any given time, whereabouts we are just by looking out of the window, but the clever bit in a GPS navigation system is how it allows you not only to know where you are, but also where you are going, or to be more specific, how you are to get wherever you want to go as quickly and as efficiently as possible. This requires not just the information from the satellites, but also a lot of data stored within the GPS receiver.

By constantly beaming back signals, your GPS receiver is able to collate data telling you how fast you are going on average, how far you are from your destination and how long it will take you to get there going at your current average speed. Some of the cleverer, more recent models will give data on such matters as how much petrol it will take you to get somewhere, and what distance you will be able to cover with the fuel currently in your tank.

In conclusion, GPS technology provide more enjoyful travelling to its user as it has a lot of features that support information about user vehicle statistic or even the spatial statistic between user and destination.

VoIP in HiLight | VoIP Service

Using a VoIP service to stay connected has never been easier. Modern technology allows anyone, in any part of the world, to call another person for free. The technology is known as VoIP, or Voice over IP. The name itself sounds a little complicated, but it helps to explain the concept. Once you understand more about VoIP, and learn how it benefits you, you will fall in love with it.

Traditionally, when you make a long distance call using a land line or a mobile phone, you have to incur hefty International calling rates. You have very little alternative because these rates are set by the telecommunications giants - the telephone companies. Before the age of the Internet, the only way to make a long distance call is through the telecommunications network - your land line at home or in the office. That means you are at the mercy of the phone companies. Whatever they are charging you, you will have to pay.

Fortunately, those days are now over. Voice over IP technology allows one person to call another by transferring voice data over the Internet. This means you need an Internet connection for the calls. If you are calling someone within the same VoIP network, you don't even need to pay. But if you attempt to call someone who is using a land line or a mobile phone, some charges may be incurred. However, these rates are far better than what the phone companies are charging.

VoIP technology itself means that as long as your have the equipment to convert analog voice data to digital voice data, you can use the technology to make phone calls. The special equipment you need could be some hardware or software. For example, many people are already using VoIP software to make calls to one another over the IP protocol. Such calls are free, as the data is transferred over the Internet.

To take full advantage of the technology, start by joining a VoIP network today. You should get all those who are close to you to join the same network. This will enable you to call them without having to incur hefty long distance charges.

On top of the savings, you also get a personal user name and password, which you can use to login at the service provider's website. Upon logging in, a host of special features will be presented to you, and you have full control over the features you want to activate (or inactivate).

[reference]

VoIP in HiLight | VoIP Mechanism

Have you ever wondered how VoIP services work? Perhaps you have seen your friends making long distance phone calls with a special phone that they connect to their laptops, and you are curious about how the whole setup work. If so, perhaps you may find this article useful.

A VoIP service is also known as Voice over IP. This label is used to describe transferring of voice data using the IP protocol. The IP protocol is the most commonly used protocol around. On the Internet, digital data is moved around using this protocol. When you play multiplayer games, many servers use the IP protocol as well. As you can see, there are many uses for the IP protocol. The challenge here, is to find a way to convert voice data into digital format that can be transferred over the Internet using this very same protocol.

That has now been accomplished via 2 methods - using hardware of software. Let's discuss about hardware based equipment first.

Special hardware, mostly known as IP phones, allow an individual to make a voice call without the use of a computer. The gadget is able to convert voice into digital audio, and send it over the Internet. The IP phone will, of course, have to be connected to the Internet (such as a DSL line). You can also connect the IP phone to a laptop of a desktop to use as a handset.

If you do not have an IP phone, you will need special software to perform the conversion functions. In this case, you must have the use of a computer system. If you don't have a handset, your next best alternative is to use a pair of headphones with a mic. Your mic doesn't have to be a professional mic. Any ordinary mic will do. Your software should allow you to test the mic to make sure that it's properly connected.

The next thing you need is a VoIP service provider. These service providers make it possible for you to connect to another person within the same network, usually for free. The assumption here is that the other party must also be connected to the Internet, and he or she is also a member of the same VoIP network. There are 3 scenarios in which you have to pay some fees.

You call someone who is not a member of the VoIP network that you are in.

You make a call to a traditional land line. The service provider make this possible with their sophisticated equipment.

You call someone on a cell phone. It doesn't matter where the location is. As long as there is a phone signal, the other party will be able to take the call. This works in similar fashion as calling to a land line.

Hence modern, sophisticated and also expensive equipment is needed to build the possibility for making land line calls through VoIP, VoIP service provide will commonly charge for some fees to user who uses this feature. In facts, the cost of VoIP to land line is lower than conventional land line to land line call. If user want to call VoIP to VoIP, user won't need any cost at all (except to pay internet connection). So, VoIP is a really cheap solution to make a call.

[reference]

Monitor in Explanation

The computer monitor or visual display unit is the device that displays information that the computer program presents to you. It is your eye into the computer. There are three types of monitors; the CRT (Cathode Ray Tube), the LCD (Liquid Crystal Display), and the Plasma Display.

The CRT is the oldest technology; it is your old large TV tube and is being replaced by the LCD and Plasma displays. The Plasma display is more expensive and heavier, therefore lending itself to situations that require much larger displays.

The LCD display is what you see when you look for computer monitors at the store. This is the most popular display technology nowadays. You will have to consider the specifications when selecting a monitor. The specs you should be concerned with are; the width, resolution, brightness, contrast ratio, response time, the interface, and the viewing angle.

The width is the first item you look at when selecting a monitor. The question you ask is; how big a monitor do you want? The width is measured diagonally from opposite corners. Also, think about the viewing area, sometimes there is an unused area at the edge of the display.

Resolution refers to the quality of the picture. How small are the details that you can see. This is determined by the pixel size, as well as the pixel pitch. A pixel is the smallest piece of information in an image. You will have better resolution with a smaller pixel size. The pixel pitch measures how many pixels per inch. Again, you will have better resolution with a larger number of pixels per inch.

Brightness is the amount of light that is emitted from the monitor. Think about viewing the monitor in a darkened room, and then viewing the monitor in bright sunlight. Where will you see the picture better? Which display works better in a well lighted room? You begin to see that the display with the greater brightness has the advantage. Brightness is measured in nits or candelas per square meter. Looking at the retail offerings you see that many monitors have 300 nits of brightness. This is good for most applications.

Contrast Ratio is the ratio of the light emitted by the brightest color (white) to that of the darkest color (black). The higher the ratio the clearer you see the image.

Response Time is the amount of time a pixel in an LCD monitor takes to go from black to white and back to black again. It is measured in milliseconds (ms). Lower numbers mean faster transitions and less ghosting.

The Interface is the connector and cable used to connect the computer monitor to the computer. The LCD display can use an analogue VGA connection or a digital interface like DVI, HDMI, or DisplayPort. DisplayPort is not readily available at this time.

The Viewing Angle is the maximum angle at which a display can be viewed with acceptable visual performance.

[reference]

Virus' Infection Troubleshooting

Computer Viruses can harm software, data stored in computers, and even hardware. Therefore, all computer users hate Viruses, Trojans, and Malwares. To protect their computers from all such incoming threats via Internet, mail attachments, or other removable devices, people use Antivirus software and Firewalls. However, what to do if a computer gets some kind of virus infection even after implementing all protection mechanisms?

This article can help you to deal with such situations:

First, try to figure out which Virus is infecting your computer. Because, it is impossible to cure a disease until you know the name. Normally all antivirus (with updates virus definitions) can track the virus. If your existing antivirus in not able to find out the virus, try using some other antivirus software. Most of the time, it happens that one antivirus is not able to figure out the type of virus infecting your computer, whereas other does the same. If this does not help, take help of internet and search for the type of virus infecting your computer based on the problems or symptoms you are facing.

Half of battle is already won if you know the name of virus. You can download a virus removal tool from the website of Antivirus Manufacturers. Some companies like Symantec keep a track of all known viruses and provides removal tools for the same. You can download it, and run it on your system according to the instruction provided with the virus removal tools. Normally it requires rebooting your system and running virus removal tool in safe mode.

In case of recent viruses, you may not find any removal tool. You have to wait until a virus removal tool release from Antivirus maker companies. However, in urgent cases you should take backup of your data and reinstall Operating System after formatting the hard disk completely. A majority of Viruses affect Operating System, programs and executables. So, you do not need to format whole hard disk in every case. Formatting the primary partition containing Operating System and programs will solve the problem.

However, you should try to avoid such problems. For that you need to ensure update of your antivirus software on regular basis, and be extra careful while downloading and opening mail attachments. P2P clients, torrents websites, and removable storage devices are major source of viruses. Because the data coming in your system through these sources travels from many location and there may be some place from where they get Virus infection.

At the end point of this article, I would like to suggest something for the reader :)

Make sure you have proper scanning before processing any removable media and you could also try to turn off the autorun which is usually used by computer virus to auto execute itself. If you surfing the internet and willing to download something, make sure you have firewall installed and an antivirus software that scan any file that you're downloading. Since preventing something is usually easier than fixing it, so pay attention when needing to access removable media or downloading from internet.

[reference]

Laptop, NoteBook, NetBook In Comparison

You hear the word netbook quite often recently and may start to wonder what that is. Does that have something to do with notebooks? But I thought those were laptops? There are different origins to each word and many “experts” will tell you the exact time, place and company of each origin. For example, netbook is currently being trademarked (if not already) by a UK firm. But in short, they are marketing terms created to sell new lines of products.

So are you telling me laptops are notebooks, which in turn are the new netbooks? Far from it. Although they may be marketing terms, they do in reality serve as categories within the portable personal computer category that denote a specific purpose to consumers. These three marketing terms tell the consumer where they should be looking based on their specific needs. For example, a teenager who does schoolwork, play games and surfs the web will probably want a laptop for his needs. Another teenager who does schoolwork, blogs and carries it to school will probably want a small notebook. A mother of these two teenagers who emails and surfs the web would probably be happy with a netbook.

Broadly summarized, laptops can be considered as portable desktops and notebooks as lightweight laptops, although both words have become synonymous and interchangeable. The new entrant of the three called netbooks can be considered as inexpensive notebooks mainly for internet use.

So when you’re deciding on what to get next, consider what you will be mainly using it for. If surfing the web is all you do, a notebook may be going overboard. Getting a netbook and using the savings on something else may be a wise choice. Remember that a netbook is an inexpensive option for basic uses. That means if you’re a power user, don’t buy a netbook and try to run video rendering software on it and call it slow!.

VS

Both of them have similarity in appearance but having different user orientation, notebook / laptop is for power user who need high performance and netbook is for user who just need to do small scale work or even just surfing the web. Moreover, this simple counter doesn't have log feature that provide statistical data of pageload.

If you want to accomodate both features you could use hits counter script and I will write a guide to make one, using the hits counter script from StatCounter, a free and easy to make web counter. You can see the example of this script in my blog, look at right section and you sould see StatCounter logo right there. When making this script, you can choose to whether displaying a counter or a logo.

To have access to the script, you should register in StatCounter Website and it will took less than 5 minutes. Then you could directly log in without doing any vericiation from your registered email.

Then add new project to your account, and you are free to customize your counter. Modify at as your need and after you finished with the customization, just make the script and follow the instruction given to add the script to your page.

Finished with making and attaching the script, now you can examine the traffic of your site. The statistic provided is clear and complete enough. There are page load, unique visitor and returning visitor statistic served in a nice bar chart. You can choose to view statistic daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly or even yearly.

Here's a screenshot on how StatCounter performs.

Backup Data with 4 Simple Ways

Data loss is a big problem for anyone who uses a computer to work. Fires happen, computers crash (with alarming frequency), and virus programmers have become more advanced than ever before. Each of these situations presents its own uniques threat, but there is one way to deal with the most devastating outcome- file backup.

We can easily summarize the backup method into four major kinds, namely

Backup by OS Backup System

Backup by Optical Drive (CD/DVD)

Backup by External HDD

Backup by Online Backup Service

Some operating systems come with a backup utility that allows you to create backup copies of your entire hard drive (or folders that you select) automatically. The two most popular operating systems, Windows Vista and Mac OS X both come with backup utilities. After a certain point, though, backing up files on the same computer that has the potential for crash can end up devastating your system.

Backing up files on CD or DVD is a viable option for anyone who has that capability and backs up once in a while. The one major advantage to this method is that the CD or DVD is an external storage media, and it can be kept safe outside of the computer, or even the room the computer is in. Many large companies do routine backups of important data and keep those disks in a fire-proof safe off site. This can still be a time consuming method, and each disk can only hold a fraction of the entire contents of a hard drive.

External hard drives offer the easiest and most reliable method of local backup storage, as they are available in very large capacities, connect easily, and can be physically isolated from the computer at any time. Unless you keep your external hard drive locked up in a safe as well, it too can be destroyed by fire, flood, or storm should a disaster strike. They are also prone to the same failure problems that plague internal drives.

A solution for how to backup files is growing in popularity among home users as well as office IT managers and that solution is online backup. This relatively new method of file backup is done online with a company that is physically miles away, yet the data is always available at the touch of a few keystrokes. For a nominal fee, there are several companies that will store your data in heavily protected servers, often automatically as well.

Choosing a backup method is simply a matter of determining how much capacity and security you need. Most people find that external hard drives and online services offer the best protection for the cost.

[reference]

Simple PC Buying Guide

Personal Computers more commonly known as PCs, which you can keep it at home for your personal use, for your personal work such as checking and sending your emails, or may be do some office work and many more reasons. If you know the signs and symptoms ahead of time, you can prepare for the inevitable computer crash and get your data backed up before it's too late.

Of course you should be backing up your computer on a regular basis to begin with, but let's face it, very few of us actually do that. The next best thing is to know the warning signs so you can backup your data before it's too late. Here are a few signs of hard drive failure that should hopefully help you avoid catastrophic crashes.

The Frozen Computer: Screen is stuck, you can't type, your mouse doesn't move, and even the blessed Ctrl-Alt-Del combination is useless. You've got to shut if off manually and restart, which of course makes the computer yell at you for not shutting down properly.

The Missing File: Ever now and then, you might delete a file and not know you did it, but if files randomly start turning up missing, start worrying. The next file to go AWOL may be an integral system file that the entire operating system hinges on.

Old Man Syndrome: When your computer is simply slow. Not just a little slower than normal, I mean ridiculously slow, and only when accessing the hard drive. This is a tell tale sing things are about to turn south quickly. Get thee some help.

Stuck Stuck Stuck: When it seems like your computer just can't seem to remember what to do on startup. Sometimes it sticks for a little bit then continues, and sometimes it just freezes. This is a big time warning that you are headed for trouble.

A failed hard drive isn't actually that hard to spot. It's kind of like a dead car, it just doesn't work. Anyone who has worked on a PC long enough knows all about the blue screen. When you get the blue screen, all bets are off, and you have lost the game. But don't worry, even when your hard drive dies, you can still recover some of the data- most of the time. However, the process can be very expensive and there are no guarantees that you'll get all of your data back. In fact, in most cases you won't get 100% recovery.

It's best to take preventative measures such as using an online backup service or do it yourself using external hard drives. It's worth the cost, and will save you money and time in the long run. Don't wait for the signs of hard drive failure to turn into full blown catastrophe; implement a backup plan now!

[reference]

5 Simple Tricks to Safely Use Computer

Advances in computer technology is a double-edged sword. On one hand, it affords us quick and easy access to numerous conveniences such as bank statements, favorite shopping centers, school and health records, and more. On the other hand, it can also grant the same access to those who aren't supposed to get it. Although it's a rare occurrence, hacking has become the biggest criminal nuisance in computer history.

Make no bones about it. There's nothing innocent or cute about the hacker. Today's hackers aren't the pimply-faced teen rebels that you might be thinking of. Instead, this generation of hackers are grown individuals who are more than likely earning a living by stealing the identities of innocent, law abiding individuals and then selling those identities to others who want to slip by the system. And the only protection against these seedy people is prevention.

Computer security couldn't be more important than it is today and that's why we've taken the time to introduce it to you. You can reduce the probability of experiencing identity theft by making your computer as hacker-proof as possible. All that's needed is a little software and a lot of common sense.

Install an anti-virus/anti-spyware program. Anti-virus/anti-spyware software will stop malicious code from downloading and installing onto your computer while you peruse the Internet. Known as viruses, worms, or spyware, this malicious code can destroy important files and render your computer good for only one thing: sending sensitive data back to the server of an identity thief.

Don't store sensitive data on your computer in the first place. Should your computer get infected with a virus, worm, or piece of spyware, you can thwart the individuals responsible by not storing your personal information on your PC so that when and if your computer does send back data - it won't be anything valuable. Hackers look for things like full names, social security numbers, phone numbers, home addresses, work-related information, and credit card numbers. If these things aren't saved onto a computer, there's nothing critical to worry about other than restoring your computer to a non-virus condition.

Don't open files without scanning them with an anti-virus/anti-spyware program. In the past, the warning was to avoid opening files from people that you don't know. Today it's really not safe to open files from anyone (without scanning the files) because that's how viruses get spread - through files - even by mistake. So even though your co-worker may have emailed a funny video, it's no more safe to open than a video downloaded from a complete stranger. Be safe and scan each and every file you download from the Internet or receive through email regardless of where it came from.

Create a barrier between your computer and prying eyes. Anti-virus/anti-spyware programs are only effective after the effect. But you can prevent identity theft from occurring by installing a firewall. A firewall is software that checks all data entering and exiting a computer and it then blocks that which doesn't meet specified security criteria (user-defined rules).

Don't click on website links in spam messages. In an effort to obtain personal information, some spammers will send email that asks you to click on a link. The email messages are often disguised as important messages from well-known online establishments, and they often try to scare their readers into clicking links with threats of closing an account of some sort. Sometimes the links are harmless and attempt to con the reader into volunteering personal information (credit card number), but other times the links attempt to download harmful software onto a computer.

These are five action that you can take to minimize the oppurtunity of having yourself fall into a problem, especially in internet. Moreover, you can't just rely on these 5 points, you should enrich your knowledge of network security, so that you will have stronger defense.

[reference]

Broken Computer? Won't Be Any Problem

For anyone who owns a PC, computer repairs or laptop repairs can be a nightmare. Not only can they be very costly, but it can also be difficult to find somebody who can fix your computer quickly, without a lot of hassles. And if you are one of the growing numbers of people who work out of your home, experiencing computer problems is not only an inconvenience, it can cost you plenty when it comes to a loss of production. So having a reliable source for computer repairs can be the difference between success and failure when it comes to a home based businesses.

So what are some things to look for in a service that performs computer repairs, laptop repairs or server repairs? For one thing, it should be staffed by people who know computers like the back of their hand. The last thing you need is to have your computer in the shop for days, or even weeks, only to eventually be told that the company is "unfamiliar" with the make or model so they won't be able to fix it. You should choose a repair service that offers a policy indicating that if they are unable to fix your computer for any reason, they will not charge you a fee.

And when it comes to computer repairs or laptop repairs, it can sometimes be an expensive proposition. That is why you should choose a service that charges a reasonable hourly rate, which is made clear before the repairs begin. There should never be any surprises at the end, like hidden fees or charges. Also, since every computer problem does not require a trip to the shop, it helps to use a service that offers free advice, either via email or live chat. This can be especially helpful if you have some basic technical knowledge, since you can save money by doing the simpler computer repairs yourself.

Perhaps the best way to ward off expensive computer issues is to stop them before they even start. A reputable computer repair service should offer a PC "health check," which can diagnose potential dangers like viruses, spyware, hard disk fragmentation, dusty components or just slow operation in general.
